How to remove deep scratches from vinyl floors

Question

I pushed a dresser across my basement floor instead of putting something under it.  These are individual 12 inch tiles.

If this is  vinyl or linoleum tile,  you will need to replace.  A simple solution is put down a nice runner.

I know Home Depot sells some stuff to fill in scratches on vinyl. I purchased some a year ago but I never got around to doing it so I don't know how it looks. I know it comes in various colors and I believe it works like a woodfiller or putty would but for vinyl.

I have similar scratches on vinyl flooring made from pushing a walker around.  I don't think they can be removed. Either live with them, cover them with a rug, or install new flooring

Tony, may I suggest you try gently sanding the area, just try a couple of inches at a time and repeat, gently is the way. You can then seal the offending lines with a little Poly sealer. This worked in my kitchen with marks made by my ironing board some time ago and it has held up nicely. Good luck. (if it fails, you can always buy a rug a suggested above).

Clean the floor well, then try Mop & Glo on the entire floor to brighten up the sheen.  Always check with the floor experts though.   Best of luck.

I heard someone of using melted crayon? I never tried it but they said it worked. Dunno?? Anyone ever hear of that one?

Clean the area with acetone.  Cheap acrylic paint to match, then wax the entire floor.  Crayon won't hold, sanding will destroy  the finish on surrounding floor.

Sanding is fine if you are careful and gently sand with an emery board, little at a time. This has worked for me and as you are only sanding the offending area it will not destroy the surrounding area.
