Kitchen floor is too dark, what can I do to make it appear brighter?

B. Enne on Jul 13, 2016Is it an old floor? You could probably whitewash it...I've painted my vinyl floor, but I don't expect it to last forever, and I wouldn't do it on a new floor. You could cover it with a floating floor. You could put a rug down--I don't favour that option, since I spill everything. :)Helpful Reply

MN Mom on Jul 13, 2016Short term solution would be to purchase a bright rug.Helpful Reply

Jean Myles on Jul 13, 2016A little more info would help us to help you. How long do you expect the floor to stay like it is? Will you be replacing it soon Are you in a rental?? As MN Mom suggested an area rug could work .Helpful Reply

Janet Pizaro on Jul 13, 2016Putting a kitchen runner down would be the most cost effective. Once you decide on a color scheme follow through with coodernating accessories.Helpful Reply

Swinnen Lisette on Jul 14, 2016I have the same problem : painted the cabinets of my little kitchen white, and the ceiling which was also in wood color. I am selling the house so I don't want to spent much to brighten the really dark vinyl floor. I will keep MN Mom's idea in mind and buy a bright rug. Only I am going to buy a square of bright vinyl to put on the existing flooring as a rug.. easy to clean and instant brightness !Helpful Reply

Pam Walker on Jul 14, 2016Go to Lowe's & pick up a box of peel-n-stick floor tile laminates & place them down over the existing floor in a brighter color. They got all kinds of colors & styles. Simple & cheap. :)Helpful Reply
