Some of my popcorn ceiling is coming off in pieces. How do I fix it?

It's peeling off around it, too.

Take it all off. Sounds like it wants to come down anyway.

  • Lowe's and Home Depot sell patch kits for popcorn ceilings, however, I tried and hated that it never really matched the rest of the ceiling. If you have the time, I recommend taking the whole thing off.

I may try to patch it, but it will probably end up just taking it all off. Thank you!

Unless you really like the popcorn look I would suggest removing it all. There are many videos and step by step instructions on how to do it. Messy but not hard to do. If you decide to keep it and patch that area then be expecting the areas around the new patch to start falling off soon.

i agree with the above comments. there is something wrong with the ceiling. remove the popcorn, but inspect the roof and ceiling for water damage. have a pro come look at it...they should have a thermal meter to help isolate if water is come is getting in. water is generally cooler than than surrounding areas.

I would opt for a different solution.rather than fix it.

Sounds like a moisture problem but you can finish removing it and have a flat ceiling by spraying with water and scraping. Trying to find the same finish is not always easy if you want to repair it and you have to make sure you get all the loose area completely clean
