Tile grout is chipping out - how do I fix it?

My bathroom shower is tiled and I have some chipping out of the grout in the corner up and down the wall. Can anyone tell me how to fix this?

Is it chipping because the tile is loose? Knowing why it chipped will help fix it. But you'll probably have to get out all the loose grout then regrout the area.

I have this around my bathtub, where the bathtub meets the tile. I second shawna - you'll have to chip out the damaged grout before adding some new grout. I used a screwdriver to pull out the damaged parts and then, (because I thought it might be better than grout for that specific location) I put in some white silicone caulk rather than regular tile grout.

Chipping grout is due to someone grouting over the original grout. The only way to permanently correct the problem is to remove all of the old grout. Then you can regrout and seal. Hopefully the original grout is unsanded. If it's sanded grout originally, the only way to remove it is to grind it out with a dremmel.

If this is exactly in the corner where adjacent walls meet, they should not have been grouted. Corners are notorious for grout cracking. There always is some movement of the walls that will cause grout to crack. Many DIY grout the corners only to have it fail. Remove all the gout in the corners and use a kitchen and bath silicone caulk in the corners. Silicone caulk is flexible and stays flexible while sealing the corner seams. Kitchen and Bath silicone caulk also has a mold and mildewcide in it to prevent/slow mold growth.
