Bricks are usually slippery because of algae or moss. Another cause of this problem might be your brick remaining wet due to improper grading. If your hardscape is not pitched properly, water collects there and has nowhere to go creating a damp condition. Tilex for outdoors can be used to clean the brick. It should help with the slip. Best of luck and stay safe!
You can buy a nonslip treatment to paint on them with a roller at Lowe's or Home Depot .
Sherwin Williams sells a paint called Deck and Dock. You can also purchase from them...packages of crushed walnut hulls. Unlike sand, the hulls will absorb the paint so that walking on it will not scratch the paint off. On sand , the paint would wear off. You add the crushed hulls to the paint and then apply to the cleaned patio. The paint is a high end product with much durability and comes in a variety of colors. And no, I do not work for Sherwin Williams...lol.
Buy a clear cement stain. Add non-slip paint additive. It should make them less slippery.
Outdoor carpet, at least in the high traffic areas. Maybe you can get hold of a few of those interlocking rubber mats they use behind commercial bars.
I didn't know you have good weather in Rochester. I used to live in Upstate NY and we had 2 seasons; Rain and Snow with an 80% chance of mosquitos.
