There's a product out there called reviver that a lot of homeowners have used to completely bring back their floors. You can probably find it at your local hardware store. Good luck!

Hiring the big floor polisher going over a couple of times then seal it

At this point I would have them sanded down and refinished, 37 years is a long time to go without freshening up.
