I am assuming the area is wood? If so, you can try sanding the surface to see if you can remove the evidence of water damage. If its more extensive than surface damage it will probably need replaced.
First of all, I would have the dog drink her water, in a diff. room, like the bathroom, or outside. Secondly, examine why the bowl released water, and is there a crack, or a chip in the bowl, or was it filled too full. We always put a paper towel under the bowl. In your case, you may have to rewax your floor, but put the water bowl, in a cookie sheet, or small cake pan, for prevention of this happening again, with a towel in the pan to soak in the extra water. Try filling the dish just 1/2 full, to prevent this from happening again. I would use the Jiiffy floor cleaner, and wax tho explore these products, and best wishes. J.
Sanding the floor is a start if it is real wood. Refinishing the area should blend in with the rest of the floor. But you need to try to prevent this from occurring again. A tray with a towel is a great option to keep from spilling out.
Judy,Judy,Judy. If only the question had been "How do I prevent this from happening again?" I would search on Pinterest. Great go-to for just about any question.
Thanks for the replies. The bowl has been removed. My husband is the guilty party. He had a towel under the bowl but did not switch it out when it got wet. The bowl has been moved to tile floor. Thanks to everyone again. Have a blessed day.
Cover with a rubber backed mat and let it thoroughly dry out before you attempt to do anything.
