How do I help my crepe myrtle?
i dont have a picture to show, but it has this ugly black fungus growing on the bark and now its affecting the leaves. what can i do to help it? dont want to cut it down!

I have read that you use vinegar, but that seemed to make it worse.
I would call the closest University's agricultural extension. They will have a remedy, I'm sure. My mother used them, no matter where we lived and she knew a lot about gardening and chemicals. Good luck, crepe myrtle bushes are beautiful.
I haven't looked closely at our CM but it does die back here in zone 5/6 and comes back every year. Maybe you can cut it back and burn the affected leaves. ???
Crepe Myrtle that started from roots each spring. A neighbor mulches her plant each fall but we never have....but should.
Hi. This is a fungus that feeds on the tree's sap. Spray for bugs and make sure there are no cuts or gashes. Good luck.
It's a fungus. Spray it with a fungicide.
