Transplanted Canna Not Looking So Good

I transplanted a cluster of bengal tiger canna lily from the ground and potted it to create a container garden at the pool. The canna has gone into shock and is bent over to the point that it looks as if the stalks may break. Should I just cut it down? Will it sprout new stalks and leaves if I do?
Looked similar to this before the transplant.

They probably will come back. They might need to be in the shade until the shock wears off. Did you get a lot of the roots when you dug them up? Just baby them for a while!

I agree with Nancy. It's nigh-on impossible to uproot a plant and not have it go into some kind of shock.

You can cut them back. They might also need extra watering

Nikki, you don't need to cross your fingers. These plants can take anything and still perform for you. Just give them time to feel comfortable in their new location. Happy gardening.

if they were as big as in the picture, you definately waited too long to transplant them. cut them back and start fresh and do not let the dirt get too dry

I agree with Donna J. I can't kill or get rid of them here even if I wanted too. I dug them up and most of the rhizomes and sold them by the bagful. These are what came back in their place so I relocated them as I find them to my backyard.

Sounds like it went into shock Nikki. Because mine are so big, I over winter them in the basement with some grow lights along with my tropical hibiscus. I waited too long to get them outdoors this season, they got long and leggy. After putting them outside in June, they went into shock, looked messy, so I cut some of it back but not all of it. Now lots of growth is coming up. I have a burgundy colored one too. They are both on the rebound.
