Amend your soil to get the nutrition back up, some potting or garden soil, compost, manure, whatever you use, till it in and you should be ready to go.

Loosen the soil by digging and removing any weeds as you go. Rake lightly, Put in light layer of low fertilizer such as 7-7-7, rake lightly again and then plant. After planting I would put down a mulch around the plants to curtail the weeds.
