Are angel trumpet plants poisonous?
-
Carolyn Mills on Jun 05, 2015Yes they are poisonous. We have one and was worried about about our 4-leg babies but they don't ever bother it. I'm assuming they sense the danger. We've heard that just touching it can be harmful so we planted in an obscure place and do warn anyone who is admiring it. Ours is 5 yrs old now and we haven't had any issues. Hope this was helpful!Helpful Reply

Jennifer on Jun 05, 2015Yes, it is poisonous! The oil from the leaves can cause blindness, and ingesting it can be very bad! We have lots of critters running around, and none touch the plant! Mine is in a pot (Michigan) so I bring it in and out according to the weather. I keep some of the gardening fence around it just to be safe! They are very beautiful, and really most animals won't touch it anyways. Happy gardening Frances!Helpful Reply

Georgia Garrett on Jun 05, 2015I've had many angel trumpets. I've heard they are poisonous but I've never had a dog attempt to eat them. Just for safety, I've planted them where the dogs don't go but a friend has them right out in the open and never had a dog eat them.Helpful Reply
