Dappled Willow Bush looks like it's dying- help!

I have a few dappled willow bushes that are lush and beautiful each year. However, one of them all of a sudden had all of its leaves turn brown like the branches died on it. I live in MN and would like to know what it could possibly be that is causing this, if my bush is really dead and if its contagious and should be removed. I have two other bushes right next to it and one of them has a branch that has had its leaves die as well. Thanks for your help!

Your willows could be suffering from some fungal disease or they may just need a good rejuvenating pruning. I would prune out all of the dead branches and plan to do a good pruning next winter/early spring.

We live in MN and are having same issue with our 3 yr old tree.. Any leaves it produced this spring turned brown and shriveled. Many branches snap off but some seem to have bend even though it has no leaves. There's tons of sprouts at base that we continue to remove. We've sprayed for disease and pruned couple times this spring. Wondering if we've lost this beautiful tree or if there is hope for next year.
