Does anyone know what flowering ground cover or plant this is?

The leaves are a thin sage green about 4 inches long, and it seems to grow from one stock or root, so, not a tuber. The flowers are yellow, and have four petals. Please let me know at murphyart@cox.net
The flowers tend to bloom or open more toward the evening. And although this isn't it's best state, with the dead flowers, it's actually really beautiful.

it looks like a kind of spring crocus, the blossom is a little different, but the leaves ar typicall crocus.. there are so many kinds of crocus... :-) greetings from germany !
