Worms are beneficial to soil! Worm poop is actually some of the best fertilizer out there. I would have the soil tested to see if acidity our alkalinity might be a problem.
Worms are your soil's best friend, especially when they leave casings.
You will have to do some detective work as of what was pre-existing where the grass/sod will not grow. Maybe some kind of an organic waste or compound has seeped into the soil, preventing growth. Have the soil tested and if something is there of that nature, you may have to have that soil removed and replaced depending on how deep the contamination is.
Worms are good...grubs are destructive. Grubs may look like worms a bit. A dead giveaway in my area of Canada is that skunks will dig up the lawn in search of grubs, so we get a lot of small holes all over the lawn. Ca
n't win sometimes LOL
They should be visible if you dig a bit. Then go to your local nursery and purchase the item that is good for your location.
I think they probably mean grubs not worms.
Worms good, grubs not so good. Any dogs using your yard to make deposits? The pee can also burn the grass. Any weed spray used? Some of those concoctions will kill grass as well and may take a few months dissipate.. Any one parking a car, motor bike, rv on the grass? Leaking oil, gas, antifreeze will also damage grass. Any of those no grass areas hold water after a rain? Yes, grass can drown. The areas where the grass is not? Dig the area out, by a wide margin. Check for grubs, treat if present Get a bag or 2 of a top soil...replace the dirt.
There is one more possibility....are there any natrual gas line to the house? Are the no grass spots in a line? If so have the line checked. It’s a long shot. But it does happen. I can still rember the smell once the line was exposed.
Water your lawn, soak it good in one spot, if you have worms the'll come to the surface.
