What makes you think it is dead, it may just be delayed.Scrape the bark and see if there is any green
I will be watching this. I think my Butterfly bush didn't make it through the winter as well. I live in the nw corner of Ohio and we didn't especially have a bad winter so maybe it just has outlived its time. Good luck with this!
Scrape back some bark starting at the higher points and working your way down. If you see green beneath, you have life there, prune away the dead limbs. Good luck.
