
I was given a poinsettia and want to know can it be planted in ground.

yes it will thrive planted. Depending on climate can become almost bush like. In order to turn red next year you cover it from sun for a period of time. My dad had a huge one in our back yard!Helpful Reply -

poinstettia don't like to be cold or full sun...so if you plant it outside put it in semi sunny spot .. I planted one outside and it got sunburnt.. :(Helpful Reply -

I agree with the suggestions above. They like shady areas but something else you need to know about them is once they get started, they are about as bad as dandelions as far as spreading goes. Within a couple of years they will spread all over your yard and they are hard to get rid of.Helpful Reply -
