What perennial are you referring to and what is your location?

Please read the tag of your new perennial, as to what zone it is. Then do an internet search: zip code what's my garden zone. If the tag matches your zone, then no worries. If you have any concern, just cover it with a light plastic.

you can also cover it with an old sheet instead of plastic, then you won't have to dash out to remove it before the sun hits it in the morning.

I would wait just a bit longer to plant it so the root system does not go into shock.
