Pineapple plant growing question...

I purchased a pineapple from a grocery store cut the top off and planted it and it started to grow a new one but it's coming out from the side of the one I planted instead of through the top so do I remove the old one OR will that wreck the new one since it's attached .

The new on is the baby. Pineapples are bromeliads, and you can carefully remove the baby if you want another plant, but they will do well left together.
Mine has 3 babies right now. I grew it for 2 yrs and got a pineapple! After that it started sending out babies. That's their lifecycle. Look up bromeliad care for more info. Good luck with it!
Leave them together unless they get too crowded in one pot.
Don't remove the original one until it lifts out easily, as it is rotted.
