Pineapple plant growing question...

Answered
I purchased a pineapple from a grocery store cut the top off and planted it and it started to grow a new one but it's coming out from the side of the one I planted instead of through the top so do I remove the old one OR will that wreck the new one since it's attached .

The new on is the baby. Pineapples are bromeliads, and you can carefully remove the baby if you want another plant, but they will do well left together.Mine has 3 babies right now. I grew it for 2 yrs and got a pineapple! After that it started sending out babies. That's their lifecycle. Look up bromeliad care for more info. Good luck with it!Helpful Reply -

Leave them together unless they get too crowded in one pot.Helpful Reply -

Don't remove the original one until it lifts out easily, as it is rotted.Helpful Reply -
