My Crepe Myrtle trees are huge and over 100 years old. They would be impractical to dead head; however, the short growing, flower bed varieties can be pruned in the autumn after they have bloomed. This will keep them short, compact and will increase flowering the following season.Helpful Reply -

No, Crepe Myrtle actually blooms twice a year. Usually late spring and again in August. (In Florida) The best way I have found is to cut them back in Fall and you will have a tree full of flowers every year. Good luck!Helpful Reply -

Yes, when you see a full head of flowers gone and and the seed pods, clip them off ( I usually go down the stem closer to the branch) and a new stem will grow with flowers. I only do it once per season.Helpful Reply -

As soon as a bloom is finished, cut it off, and you will get second and even third blooms. I am getting my second blooms now.Helpful Reply -
