Flowers around your pool will attract many bees. If you want some colorful annuals try Coleus for sun ,Persian shield,Dusty Miller,or Cordyline. They will all give you plenty of color and less bees.

We have a 27' round above ground pool and we planted hosta all the way around it. When summer comes it looks beautiful! Almost like a green and white necklace. The best part is that you break the plants up and replant them until you have a solid mass of hosta. Low to no maintenance except in the fall when the plants have died back then you cut them back to the ground. No bees either. And if the bed needs mulching then come the next spring before the hosta grows back we just top dress the bed. Easy peasy.

    Patricia,

We have in ground pool but still Full Sun all day. I always plant Lantanas & Marigolds and add in some Tropicals that stay in pots so I can bring them in winter. Also ferns just be mindful to water daily. Hope this helps๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

You've been given lots of suggestions here so the only point I'll add is - avoid planting anything with a fuzzy leaf, such as Lamb's Ear, as they don't like to get too wet - they go all brown and "rotting" looking. We had an above ground pool and there's lots of splashing, fun and games, therefore, there's pool water sloshing down the (outer) sides. That's why I'm suggesting to avoid any cute fuzzy plants! ๐Ÿ™‚ Hostas like shade, however, the tougher-leafed varieties can easily tolerate sun and all the water that's going to be splashed out from a pool, they'll love it!
