Shelley, it is a Mullein. In Kingston Ont. one started growing in my patio last fall and continued slowly thru the winter and grew to at least 10 feet this summer. We did not know what it was either but a lady who passes y did know. It is a very interesting plant so look it up on the internet.

Shelly: Pretty sure not Mullein. Looks more like wild Amaranth. I think ole timers used to make flour out of seeds ripened

I agree, Amaranth. I have Mullein, they do get tall and are a great medicinal plant. Grandfather used to make a paste for the children's chest when they had colds.

The second one looks like asters. Blue flowers are more common, but there are white varieties also.

Not wild asters, I have them all over for the bees. White ones bloom in spring and blue in the fall. They are the first and last source of food for the bees.

The top one is definitely Amaranthus. Down South we call them Careless Weeds. I have hoed many a one out of my grandfather's field and in Texas they really get that tall. I now have a strong dislike for them!

I don't know the name of it but I usually just call it a weed and be done with it. It may be called wild lettuce, but not real sure. It grows at the edge of cultivated fields where it isn't disturbed too much. Weed!!
