When's the best time of year to prune flowering trees and bushes?

    Just after they flower...this will change depending upon what type of bushes you have (ie lilacs in the spring, spirea mid summer, rose of sharon in the fall)

    Flowering trees and bushes should be pruned immediately after the flowers have stopped

    Determine if they bloom on old wood or new wood. Then check the variety for best running time. They general rule is that if they bloom before May then prune after they bloom otherwise in late fall or late winter. Some put on bloom buds during the winter and early spring. Prune those after blooming.
