Would oyster shell work to add calcium to the tomato garden?

I have heard calcium will help avoid blossom end rot on tomatoes. I have a 50 lb. bag of oyster shells for my chickens. Could I use this?

    There searches say yes,I personally have never heard of that method,however,word of caution the shells must be free of salt.

    save your egg shells and put in coffee grinder or anything to grind to powder put in jar and th is works great for your tomatoes and its free
