How do I get thick grass in a shaded and non shaded area? What type is best for Texas? I want it to be very green and grow fast and not to have to water alot.

Try white clover seed.
What type of trees? Some trees grass will not grow at all. Any grass needs water. You might consider drought tolerant ground cover like creeping thyme or white clover.
