I'm Linda. Vegtrugs can be painted to refinish them. If they are wood, just sand them or leave them rustic - which ever look you prefer. Prime them with a good primer then use a good outdoor paint. Your other option could be to restain them. To do that, as long as they are wood, you'll need to sand the surfaces to remove all of the old stain and smooth them out, then stain with a high quality outdoor stain.
