What's the best flower/plant to grow in Texas?
I know that opinions vary, but what's your opinion?!I have great luck w Rosemary plants. Green all year long.
Only in the heat of summer. Need a more tropical weather zone. KY is a zone 6, they grow in zone 9 , Florida, Mexico.
It is a little too on the cool side where you are located. I am wondering if a cold frame would do the trick for you?
Grow it in a pot and take it outside when it is warm enough for its liking and take it back in the house when it starts to cool down at night. It will like the heat of summer but not the really cool temps. Once it gets into bigger pots, make yourself a caster plant stand with plywood, painted, stained or natural, coat it with marine poly to withstand any weather. Put four sturdy castors, with the metal plates (the plastic casters break with weight way below what they are stated for, mine broke the first time I moved a plant), and you can easily get the plant from place to place. I do this with all my larger pots, it is the only way to move them without breaking your back.
Great tip.
