I have cancer and trying to get my yard done before anything happens. Thank you. Glenda

  • Oh Glenda! So sorry to hear that! I am waiting for a diagnosis myself. Not my first round, so just know you can beat this. Do your research well. Xeriscaping is a better option. Lower maintenance. Specially going through any kind of treatment when you are not feeling well.

I'm so sorry to hear you are dealing with cancer. My best friend had leukemia, and really had to limit her interactions with 'the yard' & anything outside. I don't know how large an area you need to cover, & I do understand that slate is pricey. That said, your health needs to take priority. In my opinion, I'd go with slate; going forward you won't have to deal with weeds or pesticides.

well, slate would be more expensive for sure ~ could you use mulch instead? planting grass whether from sod or seed requires a lot of work and upkeep to get it started and maintained and you may not be up to that for awhile. Best of luck to you and prayers for your healing.

    Hi Glenda,

I'm sorry to read that you're in this position. To be truthful, if you can't afford to lay slate then it's best to plant grass, although you didn't say where you wanted to do this. I'm assuming you're writing about your yard. Wishing you only the best! -Linda

Are you limited to those two options? Grass has a lot more upkeep. There has to be a more reasonable solution than slate. I'd go to a Home Depot or Lowes and take a look at their stone choices. There is stone that is very attractive but not so pricey. Keeping good thoughts for your health. Good luck.
