Should I cover the bottom of a raised bed garden with plastic?

Hi Bill, all gardens really need to be able to drain or you might be risking mold and mildew growth that could kill your plants. a good weed fabric would help keep the dirt in but wouldn't hold in the moisture.Helpful Reply -

no. land scapers fabric.....it will let the extra water sink down and in to the soil. Plastic liners don’t drain well, and the planting’s...most like dry feet. If to wet roots will rot.. use the plastic over pvc pipe to make a mini green house,Helpful Reply -

No, you need to be able to have drainage and plastic would cause the bed to stay too wet. You could put down weed control cloth instead as that would allow drainage.Helpful Reply -

I like to line them with heavy duty black plastic, prevents soil loss and slows down rot.Helpful Reply -
