You can buy what is called a piano hinge. They come in different lengths and sizes. You would attach one side of the hinge to the side of your cabinets and the other side to what you are using for a drop leaf. I did this out on my deck a few years back so I had a drop leaf table near my grill. Worked great.

There are also locking brackets that fold down. I have used these 2 times. Look at Lowe's for locking brackets.
Ga is right about using a piano hinge to fasten the drop down section to the counter, but you also need somthing to hold that drop down section up! Either a leg that can swing our or a wing that is also fastened to a backing board with another piano hinge. One to hang horizontally and one vertically!
