I would go a light grey for the walls and white for the baseboards . I'm actually doing this in my house at the moment!! Check out Behr paint in "Galactic Tint" or "Silver Shadow" it will be a much lighter contrast to the gun metal grey furniture and go well with the pink marble. Being a neutral color, it will also allow you to add accent items in the rustic theme to match the table!

Are you saying you just want to paint the walls and keep the pink marble, or are you doing the pink marble over as well.

Just for the fun of it (it is only paint) try a black or very dark gray on the 2 side pieces... perhaps the one with out the drawers first.... see how it looks... then make it lighter if you don't like it.... also I would put some glass or crystal knobs or pulls on them (like the old glass door knobs) and paint the feet silver or silver leaf... and the table would look like wrought iron... fabulous !!

I think you can get rid of the parfait look by changing the white furniture something like brown or tan, which will contrast more. A dark brown might be great. You could also go gray, and there are many wonderful colors of gray available right now. I don't think black would work well, though. Get rid of other pink touches like the curtains because the marble is so overwhelming it doesn't need any help drawing attention. A neutral wall color like adobe could help (or a light, soft gray), and then maybe a large round rug with a design, pulling is just a touch of pink or rose, and maybe a medium green to brighten it.

I agree that gray and white would be pretty. You also use a table runner that is almost as wide as your table in a bold print or perhaps dark gray or charcoal to camouflage a lot of the pink on the table. On the side pieces, use large wooden trays either in natural wood or painted to again cover some of the pink. Also use some vibrant greenery (either real or artificial--not flowers, just greenery) on the side pieces or as table centerpiece. Put a tall plant with and uplight on a timer behind it in the corner. Add pattern either in your curtains or on the walls. Add drapes that hang almost to the ceiling and extend to the floor. Please do not be offended by my saying this, but the short beige drapes emphasize the pink and make a wonderful dining room look very dated. By distracting the eye, you can minimize the pink.

I would go toward the cranberry color for cabinets or furniture pieces, to help pull the darker color from your countertops. For the table, table covering, whether cloth or runner and possibly a few decoration pieces on the table like wood trays, candlesticks, etc. Below are some links to ideas on rustic/primitive. I would probably go with a creamy tan or a light/med gray on the walls.[]=rustic%7Ctyped&term_meta[]=primitive%7Ctyped&term_meta[]=cranberry%7Ctyped&term_meta[]=color%7Ctyped
