New house, old ugly kitchen cabinets.

Last year, we bought our dream home on 6 acres on a lake. The house is circa 1985 and needs an update, which I planned but I got sick and have had huge medical bills. I want to start in the kitchen with the cabinets and counters. I am new to diying.... any suggestions for a facelift until I can afford the real meal deal again?

PAINT may be your answer -- good preparation of the surface is paramount -- but not expensive --- replace handles/knobs (don't have to be expensive either); there are beautiful paints on the market today - but for kitchen cupboards I would recommend something washable -- hope you're feeling better -- and this is a project that doesn't have to be done in a day! -

habitat for humanity restore has all kinds of knobs and handles. you have to sometimes sort through, but the savings is worth it---or you can just paint them black -

We just completed a massive renovation and addition 2 years ago.My best advice is not to rush things along— think things out- make idea boards and a scrapbook binder. Plan carefully don’t rush through for a quick fix you might may end up waste time and money. Paint is akways a great economic and easy way to start the DIY. Don’t forget the resale stores thrift store and consignment shops to for great deals on lakehouse decor.Congrats on your dream house, be well!
