There are lots of things available online and in the stores for cabinet storage/organization. Look at Pinterest for some ideas.
Erica, I store like things together. I stack my skillets and kettles largest to smallest and place the lids vertically next to them in a narrow dish drainer. I stack my bowls/strainers the same way, also separating by plastic/metal/mesh. My flat pans and baking dishes are in another cupboard again stacked from heaviest/largest to lightest/smallest. If possible, you might be able to store these vertically as well, which makes them easier to pull out of the cupboard. You can either purchase a rack, install removable spacers or try tension rods placed vertically (I have not tried this but seen it recommended).
My plates are stacked on tiered shelves by size. I stack my plastic glasses together, but pottery and glass takes up 4 narrow shelves with the least used on top and the most used on the bottom shelves.
I hope this gives you some ideas to start. Good Luck.
You could make an upper shelf, if it's big enough. Otherwise, you can buy plastic storage bins with pull out drawers. There are a lot of ideas on Pinterest.
