Hi Barbara. I'm Cindy. If it's privacy you want, I recommend Arbor Vitae's. They grow very tall and slim. We have them planted around the perimeter of our back yard and we love them. They make our backyard very private.
I didn’t explain fully. We have a privacy fence but my pond will have a waterfall but I need ideas of evergreen shrubs to put at the back and sides of the pond. I will put lantana, small grasses, liriope, and hostas closer to the front. I would like ideas for short to medium height shrubs that stay green all year...possibly dwarf lorapetulum or Carissa holly, Any ideas would be appreviated.
Japanese holly is a nice plant. The leaves are small and rounded, not sharp and pointy. There are a few different varieties, low and spreading, tall and narrow, etc. It's Latin name is Ilex Crenata.
