The best way to add privacy if you have time is to plant some tall growing bushes or plants that you can attach to a trellis.For example, one option would be Bamboo. It's fast growing and not all species are invasive.Another option would be to buy artificial boxwood. These can come in all shapes and sizes depending on your climate and green thumbness (new word) this might be a good option. -

If it is wood, you can just build it higher with lattice type fencing.If it is chain link, or some sort of metal, then yes, fast growing evergreens or maybe showy crepe myrtle. -

Adding a trellis is a great option to the existing fence -

You could use a 1 foot lattice around it! The smaller holes help with privacy.
