How do I protect my solar lights from the gardeners weedwacker breakin

My gardener has broken 3 solar lights either with the weed wackier or mower. I want them to accent the plants and if I move them away from the edge of the grass too much they will be Under my plant bed..

    Depending on your light, try using PVC pipe. Buy a diameter that will fit your light, cut it to the height you want, paint it black (Krylon is really good) and tap it into the ground about an inch. Insert your light and it should be protected. You can use a groundclear within the pipe if weeds are a problem and repaint if it gets really marred by the weed whacker. Good luck!

    My first thought would be get a new gardener, but the above answer seems more fair.

  • Regardless of what method you choose, deduct replacement cost from the gardeners bill. My gardener guys got sloppy, and I talked to the owner and deducted from the bill. They were certainly more careful from there on out.
