Check out this link...it LOOKS like a treehouse, but it isnt supported by the tree in any way. ive also seen forts rigged from old loft or bunk beds, painted with outdoor paint to help with weather proofing. http://homesinchesco.com/archives/1924

My aunt did one out of Pallets. You can usually contact your local floral or grocery store and they might give you some pallets.

You could use an old bunk bed or loft bed for the frame, concrete footers for it to sit on, and build sides and maybe a tent roof.

@Darla Darla, Do you mean for outdoors? you think I could paint it with something that would make it last outside?

You could paint it with exterior paint. A tent roof would be easy - just a tarp over a ridge pole.

    (4) 4 X 4 posts, 2 bags of sakcrete, some 2 x 8s, siding panels (or perhaps pallets), paint, rope ladder, canvas for "tent" roof or plywood/shingles and creativity!
