I have yet to see a planter made to look like a head even out of some of the best college art departments that doesn't end up looking like a Zombie-fied Chia Pet.. Bad idea. Think again.

I was wanting to make something that resembles the stone head planters that I have seen online. They are too expensive for me to buy but I would like to do something like that but am having trouble finding a place to buy molds which would solve the sculpting part. Stonewear clay sounds interesting and I will check it out. As for extreme weather, I would not let them stay out to freeze. Thank you for all your input.

Concrete is best. You'll need to make a mild first and cast it.
