It took me a couple of years, but I kept digging up the spores and giving the plants away. If you have a website where you can post free things, do it that way. I have two stragglers in my back yard, but that is nothing compared to what I had.

Make sure you dig deep to get all the roots. If you have a shady corner in your yard, they do like that and it can make the corner look better too.

Digging them out is best. Even when I've dug them out, a few still come back. So like what the others said, dig deep, and be persistant.

Give them to me! I have a shady wooded in my back yard where I want to plant some and I don't care if they take over.

Ferns are natural and beautiful. Why not incorporate them into your garden?

Thanks for all your input. I greatly appreciate it. I have kept some ferns, however they are in an area where other plants grow and these plants are obscured by the ferns. I will try digging them out.
