They are designed for the height. Additional height will need additional structure at the bottom.
deer can jump pretty high...most deer enclosures I’ve seen have been closer to ten feet. Check with your county extension office...
Agree with both Ken and Dfm. I have seen deer jump over a 6ft high fence from a standing position. They have extraordinary ability to know where food is and how to get at it.
My husband and I replaced our 4 ft fence with an 8 ft fence. We switched out the t-posts for 10 ft 4x4 posts. Deer were destroying my garden with the 4 ft fence but haven't been able to get over the 8 ft fence. It was an expense that we think was worth it.
If you're in an urban area you probably should check to see if there is an ordinance regarding fence height. In some areas 4 feet is the maximum, others allow 6 feet and so on. I'd hate for you to go to the expense and bother and then find out you have to take it down
