How do I get rid of squirrels in my attic?

I can see where they are getting in but can't fix it until they are gone. I don't want to trap them up there.

    try some mothballs up there and I bet they will leave. then you can repair the hole.

    I had rats and read to put dryer sheets in the hole they were trying to come through. After a few days I no longer heard their tiny feet running across the ceiling and the scratching. Still no problem after five years

    Try getting a professional to trap them alive, outside the house, then closing off their entrance. If that isn't for you, then wait till mid-morning (when they likely will have gone outside), and put hardware wire over the vents in the soffit, or patch the hole in the roof (maybe by a chimney) that might be their

    entrance. My professional used Hav-a-hart (spelling?) traps, so they were never hurt.

    Hi Joan. I would try using a live trap. You can put nuts or bird seed in it. Once you catch them then you can release them. I would release them some where other than your yard. Maybe at a park. You most likely won't get them all at once so you will have to do this a few times. Once you are sure you caught them all then seal the hole up. I wish you luck!

    Need to google 'critter control' for your local area; or try 'attic squirrel problem';

    they inspect ,

    confirm presence,

    find access points ,

    use traps to rid house of invading squirrels. (METHOD NOT HUMANE). .

    Then when all critters have been removed , they repair access points, SUGGEST preventive measures at additional cost.

    Must be done for risk of house FIRE due to squirrels chewing on attic electrical wiring. Can be costly but well worth the fire prevention and long term contamination and soling by entire family of squirrels which WILL return every year, generation after generation!
