Are they honeybees or carpenter bees? If honeybees, call a local beekeeper/apiary to come remove them. If carpenter bees are making holes in you pergola, I would suggest putting out some carpenter bee traps..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3RHtEOQj4yo
do you know what kind they are? Carpenter bees are attracted to wood and can do a lot of damage to your pergola. Putting fresh varnish on will make them leave as they only like natural wood.
I've read that dryer sheets keep bees out of an RV, so I'm sure it would work to keep them out of your pergola, as well.
