Try lemon juice! It’s a strong smell, and is an antiseptic, so good for clean counter tops, but the strong smell might put off your cat. Spray it onto the surface and allow to dry off. Or you could try white vinegar too.

I don't have cats, but I have friends who do. They've told me that either crinkled aluminum foil or double sided tape will keep cats off furniture and counters. They don't like the sound & feel of the foil, and dislike sticking to the tape.

My husband and I rescue cats/kittens.... I have one that no matter what I put on the counter..tape,,aluminum foil.....upside down plastic runners...nothing worked at all. If you have any stone counters you cant use lemon juice as it is acidic and will ruin them ( I have granite)......Best thing is a spray bottle and some water in it. If you catch then in the act them one spray and they will get down. It takes repreated efforts...
