Put red pepper in your seed. The birds don't mind but squirrels hate it!

SOME ONE POSTed A POLE AND a slinky some how the squirrels try the pole then the sliky and it takes them back down no food wish i could find it

Hi Ucacla, lots of people add cayenne pepper, but it's harmful to birds and pets. You can try some of the following:

• Use a large plastic dome called a baffle to block squirrel access to feeders.
• Look for exclusion-type bird feeders.
• Modify the birdseed mix. Squirrels are not attracted to safflower seed (for cardinals, chickadees, titmice) or nyjer thistle (for goldfinches).
• Also, a birdseed mixture with a majority of white proso millet seed is not a squirrel favorite yet satisfies the hunger of mourning doves and house finches.
