The most important step is to limit their accessibility. This involves proofing your house for holes and unwanted entrypoints. Possibly seal with caulk. You can spray lemon juice around where you think they are entering- lemon juice is known to mask the smell of ant trails. Ants dislike the smell of coffee grinds, so you can sprinkle some of that around your house and garden to keep them away. Hope one of those, or all of those help!

ants don't like mint. put the leaves around the window sills and doors. Mice and spiders don't like mint either, so it's good to grow so you always have the leaves on hand..

I worked for a pest control company of north, and I'm going to share a secret with you. I now live in Florida. I has ant in my pantry going up and down a wall. I was mortified. First I emptied the pantry and through out all the dry foods, flour, sugar, etc.. then I cleaned the area completely and this is the secret, I should have done from day one. Ants and bugs in general, hate, hate the aroma of whole cloves. I lined the floor of the pantry with the whole cloves and replace all canned good and bought a new stock of dry foods and put them in tight plastic containers. This was 5 yrs. ago, and to this date, I have not had any ants or other bugs in the kitchen area. The scent of whole cloves last for years. I do spray every 3 months or so around the outside house foundation. I do not spray inside because I have an animal and when my husband was alive, he had breathing problems. Hope this helps. Of course, there will be no charge for this service. Just trying to make lite of the situation. Hope you don't mind.

All you need to do is take some borax and lift up your carpet and run a line of borax...parallel to the window or door threshold... so that the ants will come in contact with it upon entering your home. Pretty soon, you will be free of any ants coming in your home... as the borax will solve your problem!
