Neighbor's cat has taken over my porch. How can I reclaim my space?

My neighbor's cat leaves cat hair all over my bistro cushions and gets up on the table (This is where I like to enjoy breakfast). She also sits on my favorite rocker and the porch glider cushions. She gets in my flower gardens and steps on my plants. I work hard to create spaces to relax and enjoy my gardens. How do I reclaim my space?

Fill a water pistol, and if you can hide out of view of the cat, spray it with water every time you see it on the property. For the garden, cats hate the scent of citrus, try orange peel through your garden, or a cat repellent. Let your neighbour now that nothing you are doing will physically hurt their cat, but you don't really want it taking up part time residence on your porch and destroying your garden. I wish you luck

How about asking the neighbor/owner of the cat to be responsible and not allow it to roam around and be a nuisance ?

I meant the community portion of the city police who you report loose animals to. They usually try to find the owners

Blow up some balloons and put them on the chairs/sofas...it is a trick used to keep dogs off of furniture but it should work for cats, too. Some cats will still jump up and even play with the balloons but, hopefully, they will stick a tooth or claw into one and it will explode...after that, they won't come near the furniture if there is even one balloon on it.

I love the balloon idea, but the repellant spray will probably work better in the long run. You could also get a water pistol and make a game of shooting her with water if you see her on your porch!

I had the same problem, I sprinkled crushed chile pepper in my flower beds, and around the patio for a few days. End of problem!

Cats do not like the smell of citrus. I placed orange and lemon peelings (rinds) around the base of my potted plants and it worked for me. My cat was digging in some of my large pots of houseplants. I had to replace the rinds if they got moldy, but mostly they just dried up. The effect was immediate - no more digging. After 2 weeks, I quit with the rinds, and the cat did not start digging in the pots again. I also used a squirt gun with water to keep my cats out of a certain room when I was in it. Didn't take long for them to learn to lay down at the door and take a nap!

Plant a pot of catnip at the end of your drive. You will never see the cat again. They will be to busy rolling in the catnip.

Great idea with the cat nip, but I would try to keep it contained, I'm still pulling it out three years later ! It spreads just like mint and will take over. You may need to cut it back once the flowers have finished but before the seed sets.

Open a couple jars of Vicks Vaporub and sit them near where the cat likes to sit.

First of all you should never use chili pepper to deter cats it gets on their paws and in their nose when they breath it and it burns them badly, I recommend the citrus it works and is not harmful in any way to the cat.
