How do you get rid of ants. We are infested with ants that they are killing our trees and plants in our front flower bed around the house. They are the very small ones. They killed the dogwood tree we had.

To get rid of ants, soak a cotton ball in the following solution and place beside every ant hill you see, or across a line of ants.To keep away from children and pets, you can put the cotton ball in a used plastic container like a margarine tub with 2 or 3 ant sized holes poked around the bottom. Set the container beside the ant hill. The ants take it back to the nest and it kills the entire colony.Ant Bait Solution1 1/2 Cups warm water1 1/2 TBSP Borax (make sure it's Borax)mix until dissolvedadd1/2 Cup Sugarmix until dissolved.Store in airtight container.THIS IS TOXIC TO HUMANS AND PETSJiffy cornbread mix is also effective. It’s the kind in the little box. Sprinkle it where you see ants.:) -

Terra makes an ant bait for outside use. It comes in little green plastic stakes. I have used it and it eliminated my ant problem. My ants were living in my brick patio. They then would come inside the house. Under $10.00 for about 8 stakes. You may need more than one package for a large area. They take the poison back to their families and it kills them. -

If they are killing your plants & trees I would suggest you call an exterminator for professional advice. This sounds serious! -

One company used rice. When the ants drank water the rice swell, the ants would blow up. I just had to post this. It was pretty funny to watch.. -

1 cup of warm honey and mix 1/4 cup borax or 3 cups of powdered sugar mixed with 1 cup borax. Hope this helps. -
