Salt will kill anything it comes into contact with. I have read that if you pour boiling water on it first and then pour a lot of salt on it, the tree will surely die. Just be careful when using the salt because it will kill anything it touches. Watch out for these saplings and pull them out whenever you see one. Wishing you all the best.

Get the rock salt you use during the winter, they have a ton of it at the habitat restore. It worked well on my bamboo. I have a problem with mimosa seeds from my neighbors tree. I am constantly pulling up the little trees, so I put down some thick layers of newspaper in my side flower garden, wet it well, and put mulch over it. The newspaper has really helped. I still have some to pull up but not as many. You have to get them up by the root as soon as you see them sprout.
I have a neighbor who loves Creeping Fig. It grows over our wall and roots in the ground. I have killed 1” growth by cutting off at the ground and saturating the soil and stump with boiling water. My Granma used to go on seek and kill missions with her hot bacon grease. That works too!
😊
Do NOT use any type of salt. It kills the soil and eventually nothing will grow. If enough is used, it will leach into the water table. Painting the shoots with Round-up is the best as it kills the roots, otherwise keep mowing down the shoots.
