Hi Lou, Well, every site I checked says basically the same thing as the link I've posted below for you to see. Basically it says empty the birdbath for a few weeks, set up a small bee pond in a sunny quiet spot of your yard and hope the bees begin making a habit of using it. THEN you can set up the birdbath again ;) https://www.hunker.com/12157829/how-to-keep-wasps-bees-out-of-a-birdbath
suggest you look into buying another birdbath and putting it at the other end of your yard so maybe bees will only use one and birds the other one...it is a shot in the dark but it may work...
Take a dryer sheet, that we use to keep our clothes fresh, and wipe around the top, and sides of the bird bath, this will truly work. No chemicals to harm the birds, but it will truly cure the pesty visitor, and also, when you work in your flower bed, keep one in your pocket, and wipe your arms, and legs and face with this, and your kneck, and NO bugs will pester you. Best wishes, J.
Bees need to drink too. They're the ones that pollinate your flowers and make your honey.
Set up another water basin for the bees....
