Only Round Up is designed to penetrate down under the ground into the roots of the weed/grass.
Don't waste your money with any other brands claiming to be "eco friendly" "green" etc. They will only make the part of the plant that you see about ground die.
The only way that you can really stop anything from growing is to kill the roots first.
