An easy and inexpensive option is to crisscross the pond with fishing line. It's unobtrusive as far as your view of the pond, but it makes it inconvenient for the heron to catch a meal.Helpful Reply -

Put a life size statue of a blue heron next to the pond. There are cheap colored plastic ones and herons won't come to the pond if another heron is there.Helpful Reply -

My relatives had the same problem with herons trying to catch their Koi - they finally (reluctantly) had to create a circular piece of chicken wire that they laid over their pond at night. During the day, when they were mostly outside (to scare the herons away) the chicken wire was removed, propped up beside the garage wall then put back over the pond at night. It was a big nuisance but it worked. If you have a very large pond, though, this idea might not be feasible for your needs!Helpful Reply -
